AICE Media Studies Research Blog

When researching for the project, I was searching up commercial convention ideas. There were a few interesting commercial ideas that I found. The commercial idea that I found to be the most interesting was one on Oreos. I decided to do a commercial for an Oreo cookie because Oreos are the most popular cookie brand in America. Everybody knows that Oreos are one of the best cookies to eat at any occasion. The product is very simple but very well known. In these kinds of commercials, the audience is focused on the product itself and the desire of eating the product. There are so many commercials made on Oreo cookies and all are very unique.

The audience could be people off all ages. Usually the audience can be a family, kids in school, kids in birthday parties, or even people at home. The Props that will be used are a box of Oreo cookies, an Oreo cookie itself, and some sort of table/ stand. The people in Oreo commercials are usually happy, and are excited to taste the Oreo and are excited to have private spot to eat their foodThe score throughout the commercial will be slow paced when focusing on the Oreo. The excitement music will start when someone takes a bite out of the Oreo or does something with the Oreo.

1.          Conventions and Codes in Oreo commercials include the original logo of an Oreo. The Oreo logo grabs the audiences attention because the Oreo looks appealing and delicious. In the commercial the props will be focused on the single chocolate sandwich cookie. If the commercial isn't showing the Oreo logo at the beginning of the commercial, people will still recognize the cookie brand just by seeing an Oreo. The Oreo logo will show for all types of Oreo products such as ice cream and cookies. The commercials sometimes include celebrities having fun and enjoying the Oreo cookies to show that they like the taste of Oreos.
