Editing: Finishing the process

Today was our groups final day of editing the music video. After doing research from our last editing session. I felt ready today to help out with finishing up the editing.

We started off by going on a call on discord and discussed what needed to be done today. We noticed that the clips were a little too long for the music video. We had to cut the clips that were too long. Jorge researched different clipping methods so he just gave Alex and I as much information as he could.

First we had to edit the biking scene. I suggested changing the color tone to make the scene look brighter and more joyful. Jorge suggested using one of the editing techniques which is called a parallel editing cut which I thought was perfect for the shot. This makes the scene look like a continuous shot from different angles.

After we went onto editing the transitions for each of the scenes. Alex took part in most of the transitions since he was researching this subject more. When Alex was editing, he told Jorge and I about different transitions that he found about on DaVinci Resolve 17. We then thought about which transitions would fit best for each scene.

Finally, we moved onto editing the audio. All we had to do here was wait for Alex to download the audio while he was screen sharing. We then watched how the audio fit over our actual footage. We made some small changes to how long each clip was to make the audio fit over our footage better. We ended our editing session thinking we had finished. Then we realized that the lighting looked weird and we had to make small changes. And that was the end of the editing session.

Overall, I had a great time editing with my group members. I wish to do another one of these projects with my group members again. Even though there were a few difficulties, we pulled through and finished our music video and we like the way it ended up.
