Sound design: Finding sounds
Today was the day where my group mates and I would work on the process of sound design. Sound design is essential in films because it helps to create a more engaging and believable experience for viewers by immersing them in a realistic audio environment that complements the story being told. I was tasked with finding sounds and creating them so that we can later implement them into our film. And so I began searching online for many sound effects that can be used.
I began by specifically searching for a sound effect of a cell phone ringing as a cellphone is used a lot in earlier scenes. I searched through different collections of sound effects until I found the perfect ringtone that suited the atmosphere and ambiance of the scenes. After finding the ringtone, I then proceeded to search for another vital sound effect - the sound of footsteps.
The sound of footsteps would be particularly essential for a scene where Django and Marty break into the Jetsons household. It would create a sense of tension and suspense, as the intruders move through the house. I spent some time searching for the ideal footsteps sound effect that would be the most suitable for our film. After going through several options, I finally found the perfect one that added an extra layer of realism to the scene.
Next, I turned my attention to the sound effect of a police siren. This sound effect would be crucial for a scene where Django and Marty get caught and attempt to escape. I scoured through various sound libraries, listening to different siren sounds until I found the one that fit the scene perfectly. It was important to select a sound effect that would create a sense of urgency and tension, effectively immersing the audience in the scene.
After a thorough process of identifying and selecting crucial audio components, I have finished my sound design work for this film. I am very satisfied with the sound effects that were chosen for the project, and I believe they will enhance the overall quality of the film's sound design. In the event that any additional sound effects are needed, my team and I will acquire them during the editing phase. Overall, it was a productive day of creating and selecting sounds. I am excited to see the final result once the editing process is complete.
